Step into the story of how a camera from Gothenburg became an essential part of humankind’s most daring journey – the Apollo missions to the Moon. With a Hasselblad in hand, astronauts documented the very first steps on lunar soil and gave us images that changed the way we see our planet and the universe.
The exhibition is created in close collaboration with the Hasselblad Foundation and draws on unique material from their archive. Here, you will explore the groundbreaking technology behind the Hasselblad camera, as well as the story of Erna and Victor Hasselblad – the visionaries whose passion for innovation laid the foundation for a brand that quite literally reached the stars.
Explore original cameras, rare photographs, and unique historical artifacts from the Hasselblad Foundation’s archive. Each object tells a story – not only of technical brilliance, but also of human curiosity and courage.
"To the Moon and Back" is more than an exhibition. It is a celebration of Swedish innovation, space exploration, and the power of images to shape our collective imagination.
The temporary exhibition is located on the 4th floor and runs from 19 September 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Free admission – Welcome!
The exhibition is produced by the Hasselblad Foundation.
