Hear songs about women and men who had flashes of genius and invented clever things no one had thought of before. Like New Yorker Mary Anderson, who invented the windshield wiper, or Alfred Nobel and his brother and their explosive invention—dynamite. You’ll also meet daring adventurers like Sally Bauer, who swam across the English Channel, the pirate Anne Bonny, and Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who sailed across the Pacific Ocean on a raft. You’ll even get to visit the Great Wall of China and other amazing wonders!
Vår Underbara Värld is a humorous and lively performance that has been running since 2016. It’s a popular show for schools and families, and the music from the performance was also released on an album in the fall of 2022. Henrik Wallgren and Per Umaerus wrote the script and music, and play the characters Hyvel-Bengt & Jonny Dyckert.
Bohuslän Big Band is a contemporary orchestra that both preserves and challenges the big band genre. Fearless and exploratory, they engage in collaborations of great breadth and variety, appealing to audiences both young and old. Over the years, they’ve played the blues with international jazz legends like Gregory Porter, Maria Schneider, and Nils Landgren. They’ve performed with beloved Swedish artists like Jill Johnson, Samuel Ljungblahd, and Tommy Körberg. They've shared the stage with young jazz talents and introduced thousands of children to the vibrant sounds of big band music in a playful way. The rhythm may change—but that’s exactly our groove! Since 2004, Bohuslän Big Band has been a part of Vara Concert Hall.
