Winter Break at World of Volvo

Experiences for the whole family in Gothenburg

During the 2026 school holiday, World of Volvo invites you to a week (9–13 February) filled with movement, music and interactive experiences for children, young people and families. The programme includes everything from dance and theatre to VR and creative activities – with a focus on joy, participation and inspiration.

Programme & activities

With an exhibition ticket to World of Volvo, you can enjoy most of the school holiday activities taking place in our Event Hall. Buy your exhibition ticket here. 

Please note that the Alfons Åberg Culture Centre theatre performances require a separate ticket and are not included in the exhibition ticket. Buy your ticket here. 

Monday 9 February

Dance Performance – The Circus Ballet

Welcome to energetic dance performances from Cirkusbaletten where young dancers from the Swedish Young Ballet School present classical ballet and contemporary dance. The performance lasts approximately 20 minutes and is suitable for all children and young people aged 4-14.    

Time: 11.30–15.30.
Performance times: 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, 15.00.

After each performance, visitors can:

  • Try dancing together with the students.
  • Try on costumes.
  • Meet the performers and take photos.

LEGO® & Crafts

Our family area is an open, staffed space where children and families can play, create and spend time together.

Time: 10.00–17.00.

Activities in the family area:

  • LEGO – build and create freely.
  • Painting and crafts.
  • Toys from Volvo and Dickie Toys.

Tuesday 10 February

Thursday 12 February

Theatre – Alfons Åberg Cultural Centre

Experience two theatre performances for children on the same day, based on Gunilla Bergström’s much-loved stories about Alfons Åberg. Each performance lasts approximately 15 minutes, followed by the opportunity to meet the actors and take photos. 

The Alfons Åberg Culture Centre theatre performances require separate tickets and are not included in the ticket to the World of Volvo exhibition.

If you wish to combine the theatre visit with access to the exhibition and other school holiday activities, both a theatre ticket and an exhibition ticket are required.

Performances:

  • Who will rescue Alfons Åberg? – 11.00
    Alfons has just moved and doesn’t know anyone. He has his imaginary friend Mållgan – but what good is that when older boys threaten and scare him?
  • Why is the Dragon crying? – 13.00
    A performance about children’s rights, created together with children. Through song, dance and theatre, we follow the Unicorn and the Dragon and discover that what you think really does matter.

Operaverse in VR – GöteborgsOperan

GöteborgsOperan invites you to Operaverse in VR – a futuristic opera experience where visitors use VR glasses to step straight into a world filled with opera, dance, musicals and concerts. 

Time: 11.00–14.00.
