Free jazz evenings at World of Volvo

Thursday Jazz returns this autumn with a programme that moves effortlessly between traditional jazz, blues, soul, swing and contemporary interpretations. From tributes to jazz legends and beloved songwriters to some of Sweden’s most exciting voices, each Thursday offers a unique musical experience in an intimate setting at World of Volvo.

Thursday Jazz is a recurring jazz evening at World of Volvo – always free of charge. The evenings consist of two sets and take place at Ceno Brasserie. If you would like to enjoy dinner during the concert, please book a table separately.

Thursday Jazz – Programme 

27 August – The Carling Sisters

The Carling Sisters bring energy, elegance and irresistible traditional jazz to Thursday Jazz. Inspired by the New Orleans sound of the 1920s and 30s, they combine original music, hidden gems and beloved classics in a performance filled with charm, musicianship and joy.

3 September – Thilini Guldbrand sings Cornelis

With warmth, depth and a distinctive voice, Thilini Guldbrand interprets the music of Cornelis Vreeswijk. Together with her trio, she presents a personal concert where jazz, blues and Swedish folk traditions meet in timeless songs and stories.

10 September – Sara Alden 

One of the brightest new voices in Swedish jazz, Sara Aldén has quickly established herself on the national jazz scene. Together with her trio, she combines acclaimed original compositions with fresh interpretations of jazz standards in a concert that bridges tradition and innovation.

17 September – Blue Escape & Johanna Lillvik

Blue Escape and vocalist Johanna Lillvik invite audiences into the rich musical traditions of New Orleans. Expect jazz, blues, boogie-woogie, soul and gospel, delivered with warmth, energy and exceptional musicianship. 

24 September – Solea celebrates Miles Davis

Solea pays tribute to one of jazz’s greatest pioneers. Inspired by Miles Davis’ groundbreaking legacy, the quartet explores music that moves between jazz, fusion and blues, while adding their own contemporary touch to the repertoire.

1 October – David Levinsson Trio 

An intimate concert where warmth, presence and musical interplay take centre stage. The David Levinsson Trio presents personal interpretations of jazz standards and contemporary influences in a unique and atmospheric setting.

8 October – Gentlemen & Gangsters 

Sophisticated swing meets raw energy in an evening of hot jazz. Gentlemen & Gangsters combine elegance, humour and musical finesse in a performance inspired by the sounds and spirit of a bygone era.

15 October – Log Lady

The Gothenburg-based duo Log Lady blends pop, soul, roots music, blues and jazz into a vibrant live experience. Together with some of the city’s finest musicians, they create concerts filled with energy, groove and musical curiosity.

22 October – Mango Django

Travel back to 1930s Paris with Mango Django. Inspired by Django Reinhardt and the golden age of hot club jazz, the quartet combines timeless classics, original compositions and effortless swing in a concert full of energy, warmth and musical craftsmanship.

05 November – Val & Vlad 

Val & Vlad is an acoustic duo blending soulful vocals and groove-driven guitar. Moving between soft funk, neo-soul and intimate classics, they create a warm and personal concert experience.

12 November – Emrik

Together with Johan Johansson Trio, Emrik presents personal interpretations of favourites from the American Songbook. Expect timeless classics by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Nat King Cole, alongside Swedish jazz influences and original compositions.
