Frankly! – A Tribute to Sinatra
In the concert Frankly! – A Tribute to Sinatra, Bohuslän Big Band pays tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time – Frank Sinatra. Vocals are performed by Niklas Gabrielsson Lind, whose voice is so remarkably close to Sinatra’s that even the most devoted fans are sometimes fooled. The music is performed in true Sinatra style, featuring original arrangements by legends such as Nelson Riddle, Quincy Jones, Billy May and Neal Hefti. Elegant, swinging and timeless.
Frank Sinatra – A Musical Icon
With his distinctive baritone voice and impeccable style, Sinatra became a teenage idol during the war years. Over the following decades, his career flourished, and during the 1950s he achieved some of his greatest success as a recording artist with unforgettable hits such as I’ve Got the World on a String andI’ve Got the World on a String I Get a Kick Out of You.
In the 1960s, he founded his own record label and reached new heights with Strangers in the Night, a global hit that remains one of the most celebrated recordings ever made. Alongside his music career, Sinatra also enjoyed great success as an actor and was awarded an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Man with the Golden Arm. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest cultural icons of the twentieth century.
Bohuslän Big Band
Bohuslän Big Band is an orchestra that both preserves and challenges the big band tradition. Over the years, the ensemble has performed with international stars such as Gregory Porter, Maria Schneider and Nils Landgren, as well as beloved Swedish artists including Jill Johnson, Samuel Ljungblahd and Tommy Körberg.
In 2026, the band was also nominated for an American Grammy Award in the category “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album” for the album Lumen together with Panamanian pianist Danilo Pérez.
They have even been described as “A World Class Jazz Orchestra” by Quincy Jones himself.
This is not the first time Bohuslän Big Band has explored Sinatra’s timeless repertoire. To mark what would have been Sinatra’s 100th birthday, the band released a tribute album together with vocalist Erik Gullbransson and the string section of Wermland Opera. The album followed the production Frankly, which audiences now have the opportunity to experience once again – this time with Niklas Gabrielsson Lind at the microphone.
Niklas Gabrielsson Lind
Singer, musician and composer Niklas Gabrielsson Lind moves effortlessly between musical genres, with a particular passion for the American jazz vocal tradition and Frank Sinatra as his greatest inspiration.
Niklas has appeared performing his own music in the acclaimed Swedish TV series Vår tid är nu and has also featured in På Spåret. He has performed with ensembles including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ekdahl Bagge Big Band. His jazz project Platina Jazz has also amassed more than 20 million views on YouTube.
